The Solar Gard Sterling 50 is a premium spectrally selective window film designed to bridge the gap between high natural light transmission and powerful solar energy rejection. Unlike darker films that obscure views, Sterling 50 allows 49% of visible light to enter while rejecting 57% of total solar energy. It features a subtle, neutral finish that enhances the look of glass without creating a mirrored exterior, making it an ideal choice for maintaining bright interiors in both residential and commercial spaces.

Why Choose Sterling 50 Series?

  • High Light, Low Heat: Uses spectrally selective technology to block heat (IR) while letting in natural light, unlike traditional dark tints.

  • Fade Protection: Blocks >99% of harmful UV rays and significantly reduces solar heat, protecting furniture, flooring, and artwork from fading.

  • Glare Reduction: Cuts down glare by 45%, making it excellent for offices with computer screens or living rooms with televisions.

  • Neutral Aesthetics: Provides a soft, neutral appearance that does not drastically alter the external look of the building or create a "mirror" effect at night.

  • Energy Efficiency: Reduces cooling costs by rejecting up to 57% of total solar energy.

Sterling 50 Applications

  • Residential Living Areas: Perfect for living rooms and kitchens where homeowners want to keep their view and natural light but reduce afternoon heat.

  • Commercial Offices: Ideal for glass facades to improve occupant comfort and reduce air conditioning load without requiring artificial lighting during the day.

  • Retail Storefronts: Protects merchandise from sun damage (fading) while allowing customers to clearly see inside.

  • Heritage Buildings: The neutral appearance respects the original architecture while upgrading the glass performance.

How to use saint gobain sterling 50 series Film?

  • Clean: Thoroughly clean the interior glass surface using a solution of water and a small amount of baby shampoo (or professional slip solution). Scrape off any debris with a glass scraper.

  • Cut: Measure and cut the film to the window size, leaving a small excess (1 inch) on all sides.

  • Spray: Generously spray the glass and the adhesive side of the film with the slip solution.

  • Apply: Place the film onto the wet glass. The solution allows you to slide the film into the perfect position.

  • Squeegee: Spray the face of the film to prevent scratching, then use a squeegee to push the water and air bubbles out from the center toward the edges.

  • Trim: Use a hard card and a sharp knife to trim the excess film along the edges of the frame, leaving a 1/8" gap for thermal expansion.

  • Dry: Allow the film to cure. Full adhesion typically occurs within 30 days.
